Made My Day: Pinball Wizardry

Blah blah blah no house yet. And blah blah blah [insert name of big bank here] totally blows chunks. But blah blah blah keeping a positive attitude.

So you know what you do when the pursuit of grown-up endeavors has got you down? You take your inner-child out for some kick-ass good times on a school night! Seriously. Get in the car, drive to the Holiday gas station, get some Hostess Cupcakes and some Red Vines, and go do something ridiculous.

Thank the nerd-gods for Rusty Quarters, a new(ish) old-school arcade in Minneapolis...on Lake Street, next door to Bryant-Lake Bowl. Chock-full of video games from yore and yesteryear, it's a haven of pixels and chip-tunes.

Don't be fooled by all the empty space. It was packed all night!
This was taken after the place closed. They let you finish your game. :)

I played Ms. Pac-Man til I got the claw-hand, and Jay absolutely P0WNED Galaga. I overheard a guy totally yelling at the Centipede cabinet, and I listened to two bearded men wearing knit caps in unseasonably warm weather compare cooperative Tetris to canoeing. Effin' Minneapolis hipsters.

The awesomest part of the evening (other than enjoying the best 2 hours $15.75 could ever buy)? The part where I got the 3rd and 4th best scores on the Funhouse pinball machine! Turns out, I've still got mad flipper skilz.

And all that grown-up stuff that's got me down? Nothin' I can do about it 'til business hours tomorrow anyway. Might as well just burn through a roll of quarters and rack up some high scores.

P.S. - Next time, can someone please tell me he's recording? I had no idea. The sad part? I'm not even "performing"...I'm just normally that much of an idiot. :)

P.P.S. - Doesn't the music totally make this video?
